Ingredients for Chimney Cake dough (4pcs)
280g plain flour
150ml lukewarm milk
35 g butter or sunflower oil 15 g icing sugar
13g fresh yeast
3 egg yolks
pinch of salt
Ingredients for the outside layer of the Chimney Cake
20g sugar
1 tsp cinnamon or cocoa powder, or pack of vanilla sugar
Chimney Cake dough recipe instructions
Mix together yeast, milk, and a teaspoon of icing sugar (5g).
Whisk butter or oil with 3 egg yolks into a forth, add flour and the remaining sugar (10g), and mix together.
Add the dissolved yeast to the dough, process well, and leave to rise for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Make approx. 1 meter long strips
- Wind them around the spit and fold the ends
- Roll out so that the wound strips join together
- Brush with butter or oil and roll them in sugar
- Leave to rise for 15 minutes
- Cook in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 250°C
- Turn them by one-third twice
- Coat in the mixture of sugar and cinnamon etc.
- Carefully slide down the chimney cakes
